Who has RIVER MONSTER FISH ?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Cool, i'll have to check for his threads then...

Since it seems a lot of people both on here and around town seem to have a lot of these monsters, but you never really see pics of them at say 3' - 4'+ range... A lot at smaller sizes under 12", but never near their true potential and so was always curious to know what it would realistically take to get them to those sizes...

I think a large part of the reason for that is how long it takes to get them to those sizes. The guy with the huge GATF took over six years to get it there. Most people seem to get bored with them after a year or two at the most and sell them off at about a foot long, and then they're never heard from again. :/

I never realized something like a GATF would take so long to grow to 2', i guess i was expecting they would have a fast initial growth in the first 2 years before slowing down considering the max size of the fish...

there was a thread about this a few days ago. I think the general concensus was that if anyone has these huge fish, most are in tanks far too small and people are afraid to post pics out of fear of being flamed. That or they don't make it that long.

To contribute to the thread, I have a rtc, tsn, flathead catfish. I almost picked up a gator gar that someone was giving away but I decided against it since I wasn't sure how it would far with my catfish.
