O.K. That's a little weird, but I have heard that my precious pet clown knife is actually a common fish to eat in Thailand.

hahahah. oh yes. now im sittin here and i got the munchies and you guys bring up the damn fish as food topic. and i dont have any i wanna part with at the moment. anyone know where i can get some nice sized cichlids in this place. hahahah

i agree w/ sand tiger in post #79(paragraph 2). is chicken teryaky really cat? if i ever go to south america i definately sample some cichlids and any other fish i know the name of

Chicken teriaki is chicken, the old racial stereotypes just won't die, there are still people who swear that the burritos you buy in Laredo are made from dog.
Cat is not a favored food anywhere but if you are poor enough you eat what you get.
I have seen a couple Chinese resteraunts that had a lot of cats outside and sometimes a couple inside but that was because the cooks fed them every night and put out water for them.
In places that dog is eaten it is a traditional feast food and tends to be expensive. They are not pets but rather animals that are fed a rice and fat diet so that the flesh is rich, soft and succelent.
There used to be places where eating eggs was considered immoral because the chicks had not yet been born.
It just depends on the culture you grew up with.

I personally think its wrong eating an animal you call your pet and take responsibility for, but I def. wouldn't condemn anybody for doing so. To each his/her own. If you eat your pet fish, then fine.

In brazil, I think that instead of chicken eggs, they eat turtle or tortoise eggs as a staple near the coast. just a little tid bit.

I wouldnt eat my fish though. Unless they were huge and meant as food.
