How old/big are your largest Motoros amazongirl?
I don't have any motoro, but I have seen a lot of them well over 30" in public aquariums. I don't want to upset any one. I guess the point I was trying to make is that I think rays can easily live to a couple decades. It may take longer and more space for them to get significant size, but that is what they are capable of. Are rays that big uncommon in private collections because people haven't been keeping them at home for that long, or because they don't survive that long for the most part to die of 'old aged issues' and reach their max size and longevity...
I know there are people that will give the rays way better size tanks than most home hobbyists and I applaud you, and all the people who try to do their research before buying a ray. I admire you all for answering all the 'can my ran go in my 55 gallon tank?' questions and trying to discourage the 'uncommitted' from purchasing a cute small pup that, after all, only grows to the size of a teacup. All that said, perhaps those people/institutions that in your words 'don't count' are the ones that are going to really let you know how big this species get.
Just my thoughts.
