Who has the OLDEST Green Terror?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
In all honesty I think GT have had this standing reputation for a long while that they are kind of the entry level, dime a dozen, can find anywhere cichlid. I think a lot of people moved away from them to more "advanced" or really just more aggressive cichlids like the ever popular festae, jags, medevils and so on. I don't have this opinion personally, but I have heard it from different places.

I'm not sure if they're becoming more appreciated now, at least on MFK, or its just another slew of new cicihlid fish keepers. But it looks like we should be seeing a lot more mature GT here over the next year or so.

Yeah maybe your right. I am one of the new to larger cichlid guy coming from planted tanks. But i didn't pick the GT based on being easy fish or entry level. My pick was based on looks and attitude, size and personality.

Years down there road I know I will still have my GT in my life unless something bad happens which I really hope it doesn't. There is just something special about a large healthy GT that looks completely awesome. Too bad they are such slow growers.

It maybe a new slew thing. lol I fit in that category
I'm not new to fishkeeping, but last year was my first year to get into cichlids. Before that I just had my 10gl planted betta and snail tank, along with my koi and various goldfish I keep.

I had a pair long ago when I started cichlid keeping and 6-7 years later I fell again and got me 1 thinking it was male and it can just be a very attractive female

I've had a number of them, including some wild. Still one of my favorite species. I think for some people it's just a matter of looking for something they haven't done already, but I still think they're a gorgeous fish. Wish I had some photos of one or two of the big boys I've had, but I've never taken loads of pics of my fish.

Imo if they were a new discovery they'd be big time expensive and people would be as nuts over them as they were when they first came into the hobby.
