Who here has taken Spanish in college?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I'm married to a spanish teacher. You gotta travel to spanish speaking countries or speak spanish with fluent people to really get it. You can't get dialects from a book. Mis pantalones es en fuego.

Yeah in Linguistic Anthropology they emphasize about learning to speak a language as the people actually speak it. This requires spending time with them. Also the only way to retain the language is you have to use it, or else you lose it!

See, I can understand/read the sentences people write here and my pronunciations are pretty good too. But I just can't create sentences to have a conversation with people. I think I just don't know enough words and don't know the syntax that well. Linguistic Anthropology has taught me to speak a language it starts with sounds (phonemes), then forming words (morphemes), then forming phrases and sentences with words (syntax).

i am taking spanish right now just for hell of it. it is harder than i thought it would be. but i guess, i got lazy because i am not being graded for it

Yeah im a sophomore Spanish 1 was easy but Spanish 2 is to deep for me. Im more of a hands on leaner I cant really understand ( a language especially) it all just from a book... prob helps so much more going to a fluent Spanish speaking country. I can speak it good enough to get by but when it comes to the writin stuff I fail. ..

I am a Junior at UNCW in N.C. I was an A,B student until I took Spanish 1 and made a D, and it was brutal. I have to get credit for 2 Foreign Language classes as well to graduate. I am trying to get into sign language. I don't think it is fair they make us take these classes, as we cant truly learn the language from the book. Very difficult!

I took 4 years of spanish in highschool. That sucked. Every single word has a he,she, they, us, we and who knows what else for of the word. Too much.
