Anyone saw the "Dirty Jobs" episode on alligator farms? There is an alligator snapping turtle that apparently had a bullet in it's shell from one of the world wars.

I saw it. I don't buy that part at all. I think apparently is the key word there. They had some big snappers though.

Indeed. If a US native turtle somehow got a bullet lodged in it's shell from a battle that wasn't even fought in US territory, I'd be one impressed SOB.

I never had one personally but I have cared for a this behemoth for several years when I worked at the museum of science and history.

Nice!! I didn't know there was so many MFKers keeping ASTs! I don't have one, but I do keep an osceola (florida common snapper). He is quite the badass himself, still small though (2-3" SCL)... sorry for cell phone pic.
