Compact graphite body; lightweight aluminum spool; 2-bearing system; precision die-cast gears; selective silent anti-reverse; spool-applied disc drag system. Weight: 5.4 oz. Line capacity: 4 lb./125 yards. Line recovery: 22'' per handle turn. Gear ratio: 5.2:1.

that's the reel description. what does the underlined part mean? is that another name for instant ant-reverse?

hmmm, not sure, probably not, instant anti reverse is when you cant move the handle back at all, some have like 3 spots where they stop (thats how the shimanon tx and shakespeare microlite are that I had used) It didnt seem to bother me much on the shakespeare but on the shimano its such a small rel that id set the hook and sometimes my hand would slip off the grip and then id lose the tension of the hookset, which is why I upgraded. But if it doesnt bother you then great! didnt bother me much on my shakespeare. I ultralite fish majority of the time now so investing in a good ultralite reel was worth it. I bought the shimano symetre 500, good reel but I also purchased a sedona 500 a few months back and the difference isnt worth the extra $40 (actually sometimes I prefer the sedona. And the sahara is also nice. I had one of the 5 bearing rapalas in the past but was getting too much line twist.

My dad got me a daiwa steez 2508 spinning reel and rod for christmas, spooled with 6 pound mono (if i hook a pike id prefer it to snap lol) the thing weighs a pound, best ultralight ever! this fall im going to take it to montauk and see how that works out! Biggest fish caught so far is a 7 inch bass but the ice is just off the lakes so we will see

the only problem i have with the shakespeare microlite is the line gets sucked under the spool way to much...

ya know I had that problem with all my shakespeares, i guess the cheap manufacturing didnt care to leave space between the spool and shaft.

Daiwa Steez! freakin sweet man, how you likin it? Theyre outta my price range but I like daiwa and spinning reels, definitely wouldnt mind getting one

All i use in streams is 4# test for trout. No liter. Its cool catching 5#+ fish on 4# test:)

dry fly fishing for trout i use 2 pound or smaller, bass i use no heavier than 10, and if i fish live bait ive tried 2 pound lol i just used my crox ultra light for pickerel on friday with 2 pound test and caught a small pickerel and had a 6 pound leader. would of used it more and caught more on it but the pickerel stoped hitting live bait lol o and for salmon i use 8 to 10 pound test and thats with strong current and 20+ fish!!

Got several ultralights, from dinky microlights up to my noodle rod. So far, my best catch was a 5' smoothound dogfish, took 45 minutes, 6lb test. Now, most of my rods are spooled up with 4. I also have a 2 weight fly rod that I use for all my freshwater flyroding, and a couple of lightish conventional rigs for drum.
