Who is eating my fish poop? I have sand substrate in my 90 gallon SA cichlid tank. 2 Black convicts 2 severums 1 jack dempsy 1 fire mouth and 1 earth eater. the possible poop eaters are, 2 rainbow sharks 8 cory cats 3 yoyo loach's or 2 snails. There is never any poop on the ground! Who the hell is eating it? I've had them in the 90 for about 2 weeks, just moved them their from a 55 gallon with gravel.

Sand is just better. Finds it's way to the filter easier also

cory cats are busy bodies....people use the on sand to stir up the poop so the filters suck it up 
so you see no poo!.
not many fish will acutely eat poo ..so i vote for your filter eating it!

do you think this means i should do filter maintenance more often sense i don't have to gravel vac? If thats the case, when i do water changes do you think it might be better to siphon water from the bottom of the tank, or bucket it out from the top? or would it really matter?
