Who keeps FRTs here?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I think bigger. But ive never seen one or heard one keep an frt bigger than 16 inches. IMO it will take a few years for the frt to hit 15.

The only time a FRT male is on land is the race from nest to water. Females only return to shore to lay eggs. I leave a basking spot in the tank but, my FRTs have never used it in the 3 years I've had them.

RTF- ours, i got about 1.5 years ago.

jon richards..turtleman.com had a pair 16" and 18" he once told me

new topic!!!!

i would realy like to have one but i never found anyone localy that has them

theyre restricted from exporting now. They just reclassified frts as CITES II recently and this has put the exports of frts on hold. They seem to me numerous in california.

Rayman - ours is 1.5 years old and theyre only like 5-6 inch in diameter right? I havent taken the time to measure ..

RTF- yea but mine seems to be bigger then to other 2.

a shame there on cites II
ym me when you get time

kido , thats a beauty.. what do you feed it with??? also, does it nip at its pondmates?

Oddball - how big is your fly river turtle and what do you feed it with?? Mine is also solitary right now..actually with a bichir.

thanks, he eats achovies, shrimp & mussles but mostly sinking pellets because he's too slow to get the other food and cant' compete wtih his pondmates :) .. before he used to nip/bite tankmates that i put with him like juruense and datnoids but when i put it in the pond he mellowed down and there are no problems..

I wouldn't mind if someone gave me one... ;)

How long would a 150 gallon last them?

they max at 24" carapace in the wild, probably smaller in captivity.. but it would take a long time to reach this as i've grown mine from 3.5" to 8" carapace (or shell diameter) and its been with me for 3 years now :)
