yea... which might be the case... would a 400L tank do for one on its own?
Yes but not pike, let them get a bit hungry and you can watch them stalk and pounce from the weeds.

thats what i like best abt these guys...

if i can place another 600L tank in my place i would like to try a tiger muskie... those look awesome...

How is Northern Pike? I had caught a couple 12"-14" pikes, and threw them in my tank. Didn't do so well. My 19" silver Aro bit one right away, but nothing else went after them. Within the hour, both of them were dead. Besides that one bite the Aro made on the pike (didn't see physical damage) all the fish left them alone. I would LOVE to keep Pike (or if I can get my hands on a Tiger Muskie!!).

Sorry for the double post..

Meant to ask if Pike can actually survive in the tropical aquarium. Maybe it was the shock of transportation (2 hour car ride) or it was the warm water..or it was something else I am missing.

rui, i read that pike like colder water

nice red texas u got.....love that head bump potential

i once caught a 10" musky on 14" swimm wizz lure......damn to this day i think i should have keep it.....saw 6" musky at lfs for $25 candian last year.....when i asked the Big Als manager he told me they were florida pond raised and thus were legal to sell in store here....they were sold as florida pike but i know they were musky due to light yellowish vertical bars...never seen them here again!!!!!!........damn should have picked some up then

it would be cool to keep pike, musky, pickerel, small and large mouth bass, crappy, blue gill, rock bass and sun fish all in same tank.......damn, i have caught all those fish here

it would be cool too to keep brook and rainbow trout

They need an unheated and well aereated tank.

pike prefer water in the low seventies and high sixties. ive heard of pike tolerating some pretty warm waters. drip accimilating is your best bet when introducing em to ur aquarium.

as long as theres no sudden temp raises (liek froma water change) then a pike is fine into the 90's as is chain pickerel

muskies and grass and redfin pickerel i do not know as i dotn have exsperience

there are chain pickerel and pike from new england to florida

I kept a Grass Pickerel in a tank with 9 Sunfish and they acted like they couldn't even see each other. With all the territorial squabling the Sunfish did, they never paid the slightest attention to the Pickerel, and vice versa. Only problem was getting food past the Sunfish and into the Pickerel. It was interesting to see the preparations the Pickerel made before striking. Tested his mouth, wiggled like a cat ready to pounce, aimed directly at the prey, then struck so fast you almost couldn't see him move. If he missed, he'd pout for a while before starting over again.
