They do make acrylic tanks.

I've heard nothing but bad things about glass cages
I called these guys to get a quote on a replica of an acrylic tank I already had. I just wanted an exact copy. 125g 4.5'ft long and I believe 23" tall and 24" deep. One side in tank overflow 3 drills one in emergency overflow. They quoted me a little below 2,000$ shipped.
Maybe 1-2 months ago I was reading a thread on someone setting up their new 240-260g tank here on mfk. Same acrylic thickness, 2 in tank overflows and in a back location and when I heard what they payed via glasscages.com w/ s/h and all it was literally a bit above half of what they quoted me for a tank with 1 less overflow and less than half the size.
I can't comment on their tank quality but that baffled me to see someone payed almost half what they quoted me for a tank double what I was looking for.
Also, I called them to get two glass hinged lids for my 90g tank I picked up via craigslist. It has a glass brace in the center and is divided into two sections. Anyhow, the sections are like 1" shorter than the typical length of these openings I guess. I saw they only made 24" length so I called them to ask if they would custom make two for me. She asked me the measurement and then told me I was measuring wrong because that's not a standard size for the opening in a 90g. So, I measured again with her on the phone and told her the measurements again assuring her I'm not a moron and know how to use a tape measure. I told her I have inserts of egg crate in the openings that fit flush and they also have the same measurements I was giving her. So she told me they don't like to do custom lids because people complain they are the wrong size when they get them because they always measure wrong. I assured her I was giving her the correct dimensions and she said she needed to check with her boss or whoever and call me back.
Never called me back. Plus, when she was explaining to me the shipping she told me I'd have to travel either to the next state over from me or I believe it was Jacksonville which is about 4 hours from me to pick them up because they won't ship them to my house because "they could break." I understand this for tanks but these were only less than 2' long pieces of glass and with proper packing could be shipped simply without breaking. I told her I'd be willing to pay whatever shipping needed for extra packing/fragile w/e and she said they couldn't do it and I'd have to drive to get them. So I said well at least I could put the s/h money towards gas and she informed me I still had to pay shipping even though I'd have to drive over 4 hours each way to pick them up. Of course this didn't matter since she never even called me back in the first place. :/
(still need those glass lids if anyone has any suggestions on a good company that can make them

)
