I have a small ball python, but I wish that I had gotten something else to be honest.

It just kind of sits in its hiding spot all day, I've never seen it come out except for feeding and when I take it out of the cage.

i have a four foot eight inch ball python (male) its about eight years old !!!and its an axanthic king ball python!!!

Are you sure it's an axanthic and not just a dark normal? The last time I saw an axanthic being offered for sale it went for a little over $10,000.

I don't mean that to be rude, it's just that I find it highly unlikely that a hobbyist would have such a highly desired morph. If it was purchased as an investment to breed it, then I could understand.

I have about 150 ball pythons....just starting to get into fish. pastels, spiders, albinos, ghosts, piebald, axanthic, etc. I have more than i care to count....and thats bad. If anyone is looking for high end balls let me know....i breed a bunch of them

You have any pics?

I breed them too. I just got my spider a few weeks ago, plan to breed it to my lemon pastel in a year or so.

I'd have to go with corn snakes. They stay relatively small (only about 5 feet), they are very docile, and very easy to take care of. My first snake was a corn snake actually.

A lot of people will probably recommend a ball python, but I wouldn't. Although ball pythons are extremely easy to take care of, they are also very picky eaters. They will randomly refuse food for weeks or months at a time for no apparrent reason. Ball pythons are good snakes once you have a little experience first.

Another reason I'm going to recommend a corn snake is they are very inexpensive and have a variety of color morphs that are easily obtained. You can get pretty much any color morph of the corn snake for under $100 (most being in the $15 - $50 range).

I've never been bitten by a corn snake, and I've never had a corn snake refuse a meal. In my opinion, a corn snake would be the best way to go if you are getting it for a kid.
