i bought a kkp and a blood parrot went to do a water change and noticed eggs, kinda a beige color, the kkp stays with the eggs while the blood parrot swims around chacing my rt.also the kkp chaces the blood parrot away, so is the kkp the female or does the male stay with the eggs.

im confused, male blood parrots arent fertile, then you said i had to test it to a proven fertile male,if a male blood parrot isnt fertile how can i find a proven fertile male.the eggs are dark in color and not white which means the eggs are fertile right.and my 3 rts are only about a inch and a half surely they are not ready to breed, and if they are none of them are helping her protect the eggs. she is the only one protecting them running off every one.

Fertile male BPs are rare, but they exist.

Females usually guard the eggs directly, and males usually guard from a distance keeping others away from the female and eggs. Most hybrid breeders usually remove the male or both parents after the deed is done though, because some parents arent very good, lol.
Ive only had real first hand breeding experience once with sajicas, but upon researching its pretty similar for most CA cichlids(which parrots are hybrids of).

Cichlids will also sometimes breed without a male, and just protect the eggs herself.
