Who Quarantine Feeders?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
i duno but thats what im gona have to do if i buy any more l. Bought them twice in a year and got ich both freaking times

There is only one place local that I would even buy feeders from. The have 4 tanks full of feeders and they change the water on the feeder tanks on a daily basis. I have always just thrown the feeders from that store into my tanks and have never experinced any problems.

If you got a choice buy your feeders from bait shops instead of LFS, they tend to be healthier, I think it is because they are not there long enough to get sick.

I dont feed feeders that often but if i do then i do Q them in a 10 g or 30 for a week or sometimes longer ...fatten them up and see who looks sickly and unhealthy and then get 5-10 pcs then just drop it in the tank as a snack.

i did when i had rays feeding high protine foods

my snakehead has been eating them right out the bag his whold life and he is healthy.

1 of my lfs have milfiax(spelling),salt, and daily water changes on his feeders. he feeds them high protine food also. my dads friend :)

Thats a good idea, I never thought of that. probably cheaper too. Hey, I seen at a local WalMart some feeders selling for 49cents @!!! Are they kidding?!?!
That would be a small fortune to feed any of our fish!

I think all feeders from the" large chain" pet stores should be quarantined. When the are shipped, they come in the mail in a bag in a box. anywhere from 500-1000 per bag. Seems to just have enough water to cover them. not the healthiest bunch I've seen.
