You can also get a uv with a wiper blade so u dont have to take apart the whole uv to clean it. You just pull the wiper blade to clean the sleeve about once a week. I like my uv alot for big tanks

As for all this you need to spend loads of $$$$ to setup a system that's rubbish mine cost $160 and look at the results

Imagine what a nice UV with 5-10X the kill rate yours has would do.....

I'll tell you what's rubbish, to say all UVs are created equal. I'm a firm believer in you get what you pay for. Why spend thousands on rays and tanks then skimp so much on UV?

Obviously cheap is better then nothing, but I still believe that daisy chaining little ones isn't going to produce a kill rate like one that's designed for a system that large.

Iv never used a UV light and have never run into any problems.

How many rays are you keeping in what size of tank?

If the rays are big enough, or there's enough of them, or the tank is too small, or lack of maintainance, eventually problems WILL happen. Not gonna find many ray keepers with that kind of attitude. I don't run UVs yet, and I consider it one of the biggest mistakes I've made while keeping rays.

IF I had it to do all over again I'm not sure I'd ever go no UV.

It's simply not worth the risk no matter what way you look at it, rays are just too much money and too difficult to replace.

My 1200 gallon system with 8 rays and loads of other fish is as clean without UV that your tank is with.. Clean out my filter every 2 weeks.(bedfilter). System has bin up and running without any problem for 1 year soon.. I wont argue on the fact that your tank need it, its obvious when you look at the youtube`s.

That was my thought my tank is always clear. Well other than feeding time it gets a little crazy but in an hour or two it's back to nice clear again. I just want the uv for the bacteria killing. Wish I had a 1200 gallon setup. My 600 is seeming so small with so many rays.

Its not tank just tank size its water flow rate. So False. You can run one uv on a large tank. I have a 175watt uv here that would kick the trash out of anything in a very large tank but it needs 6800gph min because it will over heat if it has too little flow.

The sleeves are £10 I changed mine the other day as you know t1.
I have 2 uv on my 7x3x27.
1 is not enough on a tank over 7ft and 3ft wide.
👍

I am a true believer in uv as well ..... It makes a difference 100% on my tanks there crystal clear versus the one I have that don't have uv
