Who said you can't have a planted tank with Large aggressive fish?!

There is a LFS near me that has a nice sized planted tank as a display and an eight inch AT has lived in there for a few years now.

That is bad ass. I'm hoping to be able to say the same about my IT in the future.

the thing is why would you want to it wont take long before you get lots of little bits of meat food stuck in the plant which will give you loads of problems

we dont keep fish we keep water the fish just live in it

What if he feeds them pellets?..Most of us do quite a bit of water changes in our tanks so I'm not sure about the, "we keep water, the fish just live in it" bit.

Regarding the leftover food on the bottom (meat or pellets) where the plants are. Adding bottom dwellers would work. I have 7 indos and won't bother any loaches over 3" and they're a great clean up crew.

Good option and he mentioned that he had some type of polypterus which should sniff out and hunt down any leftovers.
