Who here thinks largemouth are over rated as a sport fish. If you want to do some real bass fishing go for smallmouth much better fighters pound for pound. And if you want to do some real fishing go try to land some spring steel, Personally my favorite fish to catch.

:banhim: Definitely don't agree. How dare you, the largemouth bass is THE most popular gamefish in the United States. You're just not giving them enough credit.

Maybe if he caught one he'd like them better...

:j/k: ... If I go fishing it's a good day...If I catch anything it's a great day!

Large mouth are just to easy to catch. And they give up way to easily. Once summer hits you might as well be fishing for logs.

I can easily land a 5lb lmb on 4lb. mono with a 6ft. rod. But put an 8lb. steelie on a 8lb. leader with a 10ft. rod and I'll be lucky if I land half the fish I hook into.

Largemouth can be very lethargic in warmer months. Try lightening your drag and give them some play. If 4lb is so easy head down to 2lbs. Or use your fly rod!! Get a nice 3wt and then you'll have some fun!!!!

You ought to try fishing for them in socal, then see what You think ;) And also, the longer the rod You use, the harder the fish can pull against You.
I wish We had steelhead down here though :(
