WHO THINKS THEY KNOW WHAT BRRED THIS IS?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
its ok, its been more than 2 years now lol. replaced it by an RTG =p u didnt have a cert with this aro? what does the cert say?
The certificate says "Kaiju Green", it obviously doesn't look like a Green. But shows few feature of a Green.

A green, yellowtail or banjar red will not show that intense dark colored back especially when juvenile. As for the horse shoe patterns. On green, yellowtail and banjar the horse shoe patterns are broken especially around the back area and end up looking like oval shape spots close to the anal fin. It becomes more higher in contrast as it grows. Compare to RTG, SR and XB they also show the horse shoe shape pattern when juvenile but they are not broken and it look like a full letter "C".

I never seen a RTGx Green before so I cannot say anything about that. I also won't say it's a banjar or yellow tail as I got both those fish and juvenile banjar or yellow tail does not look like that. Banjar red and yellow tail does not have a brown or grey dorsal fin and the back does not show a shaded dark color.

I'm leaning toward RTG but can't say 100% since the fish is still young. Best to update us when it's around 12-14".

yeah id own it!! seeing as breeding has been going on for many years and no doubt people have not stuck to pure bred lines, you could have a watered down version of just about anything. take a red male cross with green female, we know that has been done a lot. then cross that offspring with an rtg. then by now, you could even have those f1s breeding again..if the farm kept that cross and bred them together, or even if they used the female to cross with an rtg again, then you get what i am getting at.
how would we expect a three way fish to actually look? back cross it again to a pure line and then what?

these fish all came from the same history. farmers started out with pures.. and then some went with non pure.
but who knows anymore? it depends on where they come from or even where the farm sources their stocks now.
so we have mixed the genes up when we move them from place to place. im not saying your seeing a change from a green to something way different because the greens have now evolved to suit the local ponds at rtg locations..and look a bit like rtgs..but when you cross out and go breeding with different pools into another, anything could come up. it would explain why it dont seem to tick all boxes for a certain species. if this is the case, expect it to occur a lot more over time because there are a lot of crosses out there and a lot of little farms popping up and having a go with whatever they can. did you get a farm cert or tag?
