Who Uses Feeding Timers?

It is pretty darned nifty! I used to shut off the pumps manually, but it is quite a PITA and sometimes you forget to turn it back on. They go for about $125. It is also a 3-channel wavemaker, in addition to the "Feed" function.

There is a reef guy (Beananimal) that has come up with a $30 DIY feeding timer, but it takes some fairly advanced electronics skills. http://www.beananimal.com/projects/555-based-aquarium-feeding-timer.aspx
 
Why not make a large feeding ring?
 
I use eheim twin hoppers for when i go on holidays up to a month at a time.

That is what I did with my old setup that had surface-skimming only. My new tank has subsurface sump intakes and a canister intake, so a feeding ring wouldn't prevent food from getting sucked up by those.
