Instead of using a pump, me and my brother use the output valve on the FX5 to drain tanks. Just use the extra aqua stop valve that it came with and attach it to 1" tubing, then to a garden hose. I like it better than a pump bc you dont have to buy extra equipment and it's pretty cheap to set up. Plus you can drain multiple tanks at once using this method just by making more of these garden hose drains instead of buying another pump.

I use the Aquaclear 110 Power Heads. I can completely drain each tank in under 15 minutes. I have been doing this for at least 8 years. Aquaclear made a very good unit with these pumps they are very durable.
