who uses the most water??

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I do 50% 2x a week on my 220. I do 25% 2x a week on my 36g bowfront, and 10% daily on my 20g long (fry tank)
So over 250 gallons a week for me. (Shhhhh don't tell my wife) I do one Saturday while we are both off, and then Wednesday while she is working I do another round. Its the perfect plan!

60% once a week or 15% everyday...depends on the tank

30% - 35% a week on the 125, 40 and the 20.

I have an automatic water change system that changes out 10 gallons/hour. My system consists of a 210 gallon SA cichlid tank, a 55 gallon grow-out tank, and a 300 gallon rubbermaid sump containing about 100 gallons or a little more of water. This works out to about 66% daily or 460% weekly. I used to have a 135 with a large catfish as part of this system, but now that it is gone i may cut back the water changes a little come winter.

I have a well and we have very cheap electricity in the NW so water doesn't cost much - about one cent per 30 gallons of water. Heating that water costs a fair deal, so I built a heat exchanger to recover some of the heat from the outgoing water. Altogether the water changes probably amount to $20-30 a month in electricity.

16% daily on my 150gall. Changing the water directly from my sump equates to 16% of total water volume. Semi automatic system, so it takes me about 15 minutes/day.

i have never done a water change :nilly::chillpill:
i have had tanks for 20 years and just add water and clean a peace of filter medium
my fish are healthy and i never have desease or water spikes
i have 20 year old fish and so
i have 48 gallon 104 gallon 125 gallon 270 gallon 300 gallon
i know this will get a couple of coments but ask question and be nice we don't need to fight over it
i know its not conventional but i have time and tested it
works for me

Unless your tanks are heavily planted, I am going to have to call a huge BS on your fish being healthy and that old. As well as your water quality being what you say it is. Dissolved solids would make that impossible.

I will keep it polite, and simply say this Science that is proven in the field of aquaria pretty much says it is impossible for your claims to be true.

Unless of course you have involved plants in the keeping of your tanks then that is entirely possible.

And of course the adage speaks PICS OR IT DID NOT HAPPEN :)

Also welcome to MFK fellow canuck.

The amount of water that I will change out tonight as I do my double water change is roughly 600-650g
