just saying from the top pic, looks like a reseal was done with out removing all the old silicone and wiping clean with rubbing alcohol or acetone. no ideal about earth eaters, just going by the pic man, just going by the pic.

Yeah I don't know the history other than I have not done anything to the tank since I got it

The silicone that's on there doesn't look real old. To me, the clear silicone always gets that opaque look to it once it gets old. This stuff is still clear-ish, but like said, didn't stick well for one reason or another.
