geez, this is only the second day of having these guys and it's 3 in the morning and I hear someting crash, one of my bechirs used the plastic floating plans as a sringboard to propel him through the back of the glass canopy. He wasnt out of the tank anymore than a min so i put him back in the water but i dont now if he is really stressed out and wont make it. Ill update the situation in the morning.:(

What species?? How old?

Well remember they can survive outside of the water for about 4 hours... Unless he had a long fall and hit tile I wouldn't sweat it.

I'm not sure about that, but it depends on the circumstance of course.

It was moving day and my old 13" ornate succeed to break free out of 25 l/6.6 g bucket with a lid. The water depth was about 3". I found it on the floor, cold and sticky and it had been much less than 4 hours. It died 36 hours later. I don't remember how much it cost, but it could have been between $150 and $200, but it could even had been more. Sad moment.

I have read that you could find polypterus on the riverbanks and similar, early mornings when the grass is still wet, search for worms.

i hope he will be ok but he was behaving reallt erratic, this morning he is still alive but he is hiding on the floating plants and he still looks stressed out.

hey guys, sorry to say i lost the senegal that jumped, i think he damaged his head when he jumped through the top. he hit pretty hard and as he busted through, he didnt fall far but i think the imparc did him in. I checked my water parameters and everything looked good but i did a 50% water change anyway. The other 3 senegal and the 3 rays are doing well. the rays are eating black worms and the senegals are taking hikari pellets. i notice they wait for them to get soft before eathing theough.
