I just recently ordered a whole home filter for my house. it is made by Aquasana.. here is the link.

http://www.aquasana.com/product.cfm?ID=27

i talked to:

Jason Borroel
Senior Sales Representative
(866) 237-4658 Ext. 718

he gave me a hell of a deal. i'm not advertising but i want to share it to you guys.

i will be installing it within next week and will test the water for chlorine content and chloramine. i talked to jason and he told me the whole house system will benefit not only my fish but our health.

here is the thing.. why keep on buying those chemical neutralizer or an R/O system when you can buy this and filter your whole house!:D hopefully you guys find it useful.

More like a big charcoal filter like the brita water filters -Anne

pffft not advertising! HAH! ;)

looks............. umm big!

:P

is it just a r/o unit?

actually it's not an r/o unit. its more of a dechlorinator and they told me it also takes off the dangerous materials in the water. well, i got it and also the drinking sytem. hopefully this will make me live longer:nilly: and my fish.:naughty:

You paid over a thousand dollars for that???

Stamp SUCKER on your forehead...You could have done better at the home depot. A basic water softener is $250 and charcoal filters can be had for well under $100. An RO system is $150.

And don't ever believe anything a salesman tells you. Drinking water from his system will not make you live longer, look younger, or make you irresistable to hot women. The only thing it will do is make you not thirsty.

Next time, please hold the advertising :irked:

Oh I forgot one little detail that you also missed...

"Stage 1 Filters out chlorine with a patented zinc/copper mineral media. "

This system is a no-no for fish tanks. The salesman does not know doo doo about fish.

r/o system takes all the minerals out and leave you with nothing but water. fish needs the minerals. (you think this is good for the frish?):screwy:

water softerner are not good for the fish since it replaces the calcium and magnesium with salt. (do you want salt in your drinking and aquarium water?):screwy:

i did not interntionally advertise the product. just in case someone wants to know where i got it. rather than emailing each one.

don't get mad about it:irked: it is just a forum and suggestion.

We understand that your not advertising.

I to am concerned about the 'zinc/copper mineral media' if it were to leach into the water it would poison the fish. Which may happen if maintenance (filter material change) is over-extended or just not performed at the proper gallon useage (not time).

Please keep us posted on the long term results with your fish.

With an R/O system you replenish the minerals and trace elements as only needed.

As far as salt goes. For a lot of fish, Yes you do want salt in the water usually alot more then what a softener adds.

If a person is not inclined to build a system himself (or is incapable), then purchasing a ready made system is the only alternative and of course you have to pay for someone to put that system together. So instead of $500. you paid a $1000. You helped make the world go round. ;)

I just hope someone at Home Depot didn't go hungry because of it...

Good Luck,

Dr Joe

sounds like a good deal for what it does. keep posted on the progress of it
