I'm pretty sure I don't count as a metal head, but here are some of the few metal bands I listen to:

Metallica
DragonForce
Dream Theater
System of a Down

I'm not into the type of metal that is 99.9% screaming random crap just to be rebellious and .1% actual music **cough Slayer cough-cough**. And I also can't stand bands that are all about death and torture. I like metal that actually sounds good, which makes it pretty hard for me to find good bands of that genre.

I just googled them, took one look at their myspace pic and lol'd. Agreed though, bands like those (gnome-core? folk metal?) have insane guitar skills.
