Who's been to Mexico (recently)?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Haha I remember the button in cancun. Customs is easy, but be careful and smart. Mexico is no place to get drunk and act a fool and try to act tough. Stick to areas with HIGH tourist traffic and you will be fine.

Cabo is pretty cool, I was there at Christmas. Cabo Wabo and Giggling Marlin were the places to be. Prepare yourself to be approached by about a million dudes trying to sell you anything from sunglasses to coke! ya its wild. Customs was a breeze, I brought back 3 bottles of tequila and 2 boxes of cubans no problem.

Err, hope you are talking about soda?

Also be ready for a million dirt poor little children to try and sell you gum!

Customs is no big deal, you fill out a couple forms (no more $10.00 fee) and then push a button. If you get a green light, you go through. If you get a red light you get your bags searched, not too big of a deal. My wife almost always gets red when she pushes it, I've never gotten a red. The button is made of brass, I suspect it could measure conductivity, like those old pizza parlor "love meters". Sweaty hands = red light? It's just a theory.

I've never been to Cabo, but I was in Tulum for Thanksgiving and we're headed for Puerto Vallarta in three weeks. I've flown to Mexico at least 20 times, and never had any problems going into Mexico. I have been hassled a bit coming back. While it is true you can bring up to two liters of alcohol into the States, the fine print states only one may be from Mexico! Anyways, they've never actually taken anything away, but there's always a first time...

Have fun! :)

I am going to Mexico on Wednesday, OH WAIT, I'm just going to work.

I was in Acapulco a few months ago. Very easy going and trouble free. You'll be fine, provided you aren't lacing your jacket pockets with blow.

dont worry, they like visitors, they dont like illegal aliens, they dont want you to stay, all they want is your money.....

They deffinetly want your money, the thing is that you can bargin on a lot of things that you buy. I've been to Mazatlan, Acapulco, and Tijuana. All the cities are kind of alike. People are very helpful as far as getting around, you won't have a hard time finding a taxi. It's definetly a great experience, if you haven't already learn as much spanish, but you'll be suprised how far you can get around by pointing and saying simple words. They understand english pretty good for the most part. You'll be fine, you're going to have a great time!
