it is an american eel. they are all over out here. this is not the first that i have caught of this size.
i have thought about putting one in my tank as well. i think ill wait untill i have my 300 up and running. i have a 125 now and that thing would take up the whole tank. he is about 2.5 feet long. however if you want one, i know bait stores sell them sometimes. people use them for stripers and catfish bait.
What other fish they sell in bait stores? I may make a trip to one and am curious what types of fish they typically sell...

depends on where you live ... if you live close to the ocean you can get neat sw fish ... but most fw bait stors just sell minnows and chubs
yes like he said most just shiners and cubs. if you are lucky shad. a bait store back were im from in nebraska sold shiners, mud puppies, crawdads, chubs, and of course shiners. were im based now in va i cant find crawdads anywere but you can get mullet, american eels, shiners, and fiddler crabs so far that i have seen. im sure there is more though.
