Who's the Jerk, and What to do about it.

So what to do? I can't have more than 2 tanks. Here are the options:

1) 20: goldfish and 2 (maybe one, I think I may be losing one.) angels.
55:kribs, BNs, rainbows & angel #3 [this is assuming angel #3 is the bully, and the GF will be safe.]

2) 20: krib pair.
55: Angels, goldfish, BNs and rainbows. (This is assuming the problem is the kribs, and even if I guess right, is risky, because a) 1 angel must stay in the 55 until the other 2 recuperate, b) the rainbows or angels may trash the goldfish.

Thank you for your help.

hard to say without knowing which fish did it, you could try the kribs in the 20 and divide the third angel off in the 55 until the other angels heal. then try taking the divider out and keep and eye on them, if the 3rd angel is agressive then sell him and put kribs back. Hopefully the goldfish will be okay, if it's getting attacked maybe think about rehoming it. The angels need the 55, 20 will be too small after a while.

I can't put in a divider; the tank is right at the door when you come in the house & must look nice. I think I will wait a little to see how these angels recover, with #3 at risk in the 55, move the angels and goldie into the 55 & put the kribs in the 20.

I’m just going to put this out there and hopefully you don’t take offence to it.

There’s nothing nice looking about a dying fish, a divider would be more appealing then a dying fish.

I’m pretty sure there are some dividers out there that you would hardly notice.

The one in the pic below is a DIY divider and IMO doesn’t look bad....might not be a bad idea until you find out who the aggressor is...

So I cut a thin piece of acrylic and drill holes in it? How do I attach it? And how long must I keep it?

I would assume if cut properly, it would slide in and the pressure of it pressing on the glass would stabilize it? Also if it went into your sand/gravel that would help stabilize it as well? I didn’t get into the details of how it’s secured, I just quickly did a google search.

Maybe someone can chime in on how to secure it so it isn’t ugly or permanent.

Just some more input, I sat in front of an angel tank for part of two days while job shadowing, those things are mean!

I would say it is the Kribensis very aggressive when protecting eggs, wriggler's, or fry. Female Kribs are no angels no pun intended had a female that killed 2 males..
I'm pretty confident now that the 3rd angel is the jerk. He's doing just fine by himself with the kribs, and the angels are growing, not the kribs. Do you think it is safe to leave the angels & kribs together, with the 2 weaker angels partitioned from the kribs & angel 3?

About the divider, it won't stay in place by itself. You should buy these

I have used these with cut/drilled acrylic and it was a very clean looking divider.
As far as how long to keep it, as long as you need to divide the fish. If you don't want to divide it forever than you're going to have to get rid of that 3rd angel. That's the smarter decision IMO.

As of now, one of the two baten angels has died and the other taken a turn for the worse :(
