I think I would say male because there is no red on the belly. However I can't see the dorsal fin very well from this pic. Is there a dark blotch in the dorsal fin?

here's my pair that i just imported from the netherlands.. salvini chacamax.. they're not settled in yet, the male is reallly skittish, so he's not showing his best colour..
