Why $5000 for a fish?

Who cares how much someone pays for a fish . If they have the 5k, good for them,enjoy there prize fish. I have payed way too much for a fish just outbidding a few buddies at a auction.The only reason to complain about the price is if they see one for a 20 spot somewhere else after buying it LOL
I for one will NEVER buy a fish over 50$, the only fish that I may be thinking of getting that is ~30$ is EBJD's and thats it. IF I had the financial status and income to afford a fish, thats ~5K I would not buy it. I would donate it to help people who starve and suffer daily. Thats me. If you have the money to afford something like that, and you are ok with it, that's also fine with me, but I think its riduculous and if a fish is that rare, it's ment to be rare and shouldn't be sold period. 5K = Overboard imo

As with anything, if it's worth it to the person spending the money, so be it. People spend thousands of dollars on a baseball card. To me, they're spending a ton of cash for a piece of card stock with a picture on the front and stats on the back. To someone else, it is the ultimate thing for them and it makes them happy. I don't get why some of you are looking down on people that want to spend their money on something that they feel is worth it. It's OK to have an opinion, but to try and jam that opinion down someone's throat is ridiculous.
I am not saying every 5K i am saying if I had 5K that was "spare" or that was not needed for a nescessity (spelling) then I would donate it. And I Know my 5K won't make a big difference but if I donated 5K and many others then it would help, everything adds up.
I am saying if the fish requires so much money to maintain and "produce" then I think it should be left to maybe only large aquariums and it's native home.

If my other half were to purchased me a $5000 dollar fish he would be greatly rewarded......Thats better than diamonds!!!
hey peanut. just out of curiosity. what fish is it for $5K??? i re-read the whole thread but there was no mention on what fish was sold for $5k?
