Why $5000 for a fish?

you say that this is ur hobby..no u people are addicted...
 
I would be perfectly able to give 5000USD for a fish....a special fish, a one in a lifetime fish, a special aro, for instance....
 
no i am an enthusiast..but some of u people have to much time on ur hands..and take this hobby to far.....i could see someone that works with these fish for conservation being this crazy about fish..but u guys are just hobbyist..

Price. We all know that Cichla Monoculus and Cichla Ocelaris don;'t cost that much. But at one time I wanted BIG cicha so bad that I begged my friend to sell me his big mono and ocelaris. they were 18" each. The price tag.....$400!!! Was it expensive? YES! Was it overpriced? YES! Did I pay for it? YES! But was I happy that I was able to take the fish home? YES!!

Why are you being so contrary? Why is purchasing expensive fish taking the hobby to far? Why would you assume that people that buy expensive fish have to much time on there hands?

I love all my fish and I have spent over 2K on certain prize items without any regrets. STOP trying to make me and others regret are purchases. There is no difference in owning a expensive fish than buying a 3 million dollar home. Well, of course all I needed was a two bedroom but If I could afford a larger nicer place to live. Damn right, I would buy the castle!!

Thank you. I wouldnt pick on people that buy expensive fish nor would i belittle people buying petco fish . Its what fits in the budget, and whatever floats their boat.
