i'm willing to bet that there are some people who frequent this site, who probably resemble the people in the posted photos. i wonder how many are offended by this mockery.

This guy right here! What is wrong with body modification? The title to this thread is extremely offensive. You speak a lot about people posting without knowing the fact but do you know anything about body modification? I doubt it.

The guy with the butter knives in his nose goes by the name, "Paully Unstoppable." Google him, you'll be surprised to find out he probably makes more than you do.

I find some of that stuff gross. You would probably find some of the things I do gross too. I wont hold it against you (I am sure you are a decent guy and all) but don't be surprised when I am staring at your face in disgust either. And you do have to admit that this does limit your employment options....

I'm not saying it doesn't. Obviously they are not going to walk into an office and get a job. Majority of the people he posted pictures of are big names in the art of body modification who make more money than you would believe.

Why can't they be self employed? They make a profession in tattooing and body piercing.

I would think many of these people would be employed, maybe self employed. As Owners of their own tatoo and modification services. There would definitely be a warm place for them in Midtown Atlanta and Little Five Points. I can honestly tell you at Whole Foods. there are managers with piercings in the cheeks, noses, lips. Including some with visible large tattoos. You can have punkish hair too.

The message is own your own business or work where you are THOROUGHLY accepted.

lighten up, that was a viral e-mail from a while ago and this is a zombie thread from 2009 fercrissakes!.
I have good friends with extreme modifications and they thought it was hilarious. A few years ago I photographed (professionally) most of the good folks in the Coney Island freak show and they are a total trip to be with. I mean that in a very good way. I was one of 2 profesional photographers hired by them for the real wedding there between one of the contortionist girls and the tattoo'd man on the beach there I was dating another of the contortionist girls for a while , and it was one of the best and most interesting days of my life.
Extremely offensive? please , spare me your feigned umbrage, finding fault where there is none. if you;re not modified then you shouldn't be offended and if you are then you don;'t give a crap about lighthearted jokes like the original post.
As for making money...I could do better, but I do ok thanks, enough to maintain a 2500sq' studio in SoHo, and you know what NYC rents are like!
