Asian aros are banned in the US due to their listing, in CITES, as critically endangered. In the US, CITES listings are backed by the Lacey Act and the Endangered Species Act. If aros are ever bumped up from their current standing in CITES, the US laws will eventually follow. But, don't expect any changes in the near future.
