Someone shed some light on this? Why are these type of Arowana's Illegal in America?

Because.. they r endangered.. And the ones for sale r breed in captivity.. and r chipped.. If they were made legal.. There would'nt be any more left in the wild.. I think there must be more illegal asian aro's in the US than there is in the wild...

I have to say...I don't see any decent reason they are banned.

Take some time to scan some of the threads in this forum since this subject comes up often. Asian aros are banned in the US due to their listing, in CITES, as critically endangered. In the US, CITES listings are backed by the Lacey Act and the Endangered Species Act. If aros are ever bumped up from their current standing in CITES, the US laws will eventually follow. But, don't expect any changes in the near future.

if they become legal, about 50% of the people on this site will have one in a minute...lol
