I love Bettas so much! I currently have 5 males including one that looks exactly like the lilac and yellow one on page 2. Now, if I could just find some nice females for them...
Why are Bettas SO overated?

good luck finding those in your LFS. that's why they're so underrated. you have to special order the ones you see when you use google while you see crappy specimens at your lfs that should be culled
i've been thinking about getting some bettas man, but if i do it, i'd have to do the special order ones. not the walmart/lfs ones

I have a female and male betta in a SA cichlid 55G and they have as much personality as my apistos, it always greets me at the glass and is extremely active, it's amazing the difference between room temp water and 80F makes for them
I love bettas! I currently have 3, and there is one on ab I have my eye on. He is stunning. I think they have stellar personalities. I love how much attitude they have, and all the color and style you can get from one little fish is amazing.
I know what you mean. I have 2 bettas right now. The reputation comes from them being sold as "starter fish/pets" my betta jumps out of her tank for food! I've gotten bitten right on my vein before by my super aggressive one. She's very territorial and doesn't tolerate any other fish. I currently have a white and blue veiltail female and a red crowntail female betta.
