Why Are Bichirs so Expensive?

Senegals are pretty cheap, and they are my favorite. But other kinds can be very expensive, probably supply and demand.

Bichirs get expensive but honestly its kinda nice. You really value and respect a fish that cost you over 100$!

Currently farm raised species include
Polypterus delhezi
Polypterus palmas polli
Polypterus ornatipinnis
Polypterus endlicheri endlicheri (normal and shortbody)
Polypterus senegalus normal coloration and albino variation also longfin and shortbody
Other species are wild caught so there is overhead to be considered
prices can also vary depending on the size of the (shipping and handling)
fish also the location it has to go to.Rarity in the hobby also effects price

the only expensive bichirs are those outside anne's list...all those in the list like anne said the price is relative to size and importing expenses plus losses encountered by the importer..

And occasionally you run into a deal from a trade in. Got a ten inch ornate for $50.
