It could be I got one of my Africans flashing the rocks today and hiding out at the bottom with clamped fins. I started using some quick cure about a hour ago. Weird you guessed that just as I was treating it hopefully your right:)

All my fish try to escape the confineds of the glass by trying to push it or swim thru it ............... not saying your fish don't have ick or something else.........but the rubbing the nose thing on the glass sounds normal to me. I see it everyday from all kinds a species of fish. Granted they don't do it endlessly but I see it as just trying to roam beyond their boarders.

I wouldn't treat for ick unless you see some white spots, the fish may just be stressed and the meds will make it stress more... any other signs of illness? what is the temp in the tank? ph? did you test for nitrate and nitrites?

If they arent scratching, and they are rubbing with thier mouth's, perhaps they are getting small amounts of algae off the glass to eat? Are they Malawi?

They are malawi and they are swimming pretty fast up and down the glass and there is no algae involved really.

Parameters are

PH 8.3
Ammonia =0
Nitrite=0
Nitrate=20

And yeah a few are lazy and uniterested in food and are scratching on the gravel and flicking on the rocks. So im treating with malachite green. They are petco fish I am not the least bit surprised.

Maybe they got snot in there noses...:) Sorry i couldn't resist....LOL
Most of my africans have done this at one time or another. Got an OB
juvenille spends all day going from the top to the bottom. Perfectly healthy fish though. Usually if they do this and have very rapid gill movement you've got water issues or the fish is stressed.

I see , Thank you sir. And thanks for serving our country :headbang2

I think it is normal. Anytime I move fish to a new tank or get new fish, when I first put them in a new environment, they always seem to do this. It does wear off after a while. Give em a couple weeks and they will mellow out. Its just new tank syndrome.
