Today I came across someone selliing aripima for just $175... why would such beastly fish be sold in the US especially at such a low price... I seriously doubt 99.9% of them wont go to a suitable home. Much like redtails and such but this is a new level imo. Lemme know what you think. I dont really want to share the seller of the fish but if yall so choose then ig i will.

Should be put as a request only fish (include rtc and pacu)and not brought into shops. But that’s just me.

Agreed, when I was younger and set up my first tank my LFS told me no to a bunch of fish and required ample proof that I owned the required tank space. I went in there asking for clownkifes and like 3 Oscars for my 60 gallon. Glad they shut me down and I did a little community tank. We need more pet shops like that

I think there are people that like the shock effect of exotic fish but are not really fishkeepers. To them a huge fish, weather stuck in a small tank, is some sort of bling.
To a degree some MFK's are like this but the difference is, although they like to show off their exotic monster fish, they care about the fish and the size of the tank.
And it goes to show you how heartless some fish sales people can be.

I cant blame vendors and lfs that sell monster fish. I think if theres a market for something then they have to sell the product. These people are just trying to run a profitable business. I find more fault with us the hobbyists. If someone is too lazy to research the fish shame on them. If there was no market for such fish they wouldnt be readily available

I can buy an aggressive dog breed and not train it properly, its not the sellers fault.

What's the fuss? If I get a 90 gallon and feed it sparingly, say once a month, why should that be a problem? :hitting:
