I might have to get this long ear!! Don't know how the rest of the CRUD TANK crew will appreciate it. I will probably put a few in a 20 gallon long since they are so small compared to the rest. When the 300 gallon gets here, I can put these in the 75 breeder to grow for awhile. JUST LOOK at the COLORS of this Louisiana Long ear!!! Then I saw the black banded
sunfish, and they have my red fin shiner and too many to list!!!

Marksuttonjr, call zimmermans and ask what could be wrong. I know they can tell you how to keep them alive. They respond very fast to emails and are very helpful especially Brian Zimmerman. Another possiblilty, is to take water from the creek. Collect rocks, etc.. also. Try duplicating to conditions, fast or slow water movement. GOOD LUCK!!!

I will give them a call or e mail. Until about 2 months ago when I got my RO system going all of my tank water came from 1 of the large springs that feeds this creek. Also most of my sandstone decore came out of the creek. I have already tried several different filtration setups to change the current in my tanks. Other than mixing a lot of sand in my substrate I am not sure what I can do to duplicate the creek conditions. Most of the creek is about a 50/50 mix of sand/gravel.

;) yeah those would look nice in a species only aquarium!

My wife and I are looking for a house outside the city (hopefully near a creek) with some land to start a pond and have a airconditioned barn to use as a fishroom.

Did you check your creek temps? Some of our spring fed creeks here are in the 50s all year around.

I am sure that the hole I caught them in was cooler than the tanks they went into. The tanks I attempted to keep them in wew always room temp. The spring water that feeds the hole comes out of the ground about 100 yards away, and is usualy low 50's where it comes out, but when it is hot in the summer months I would guess that specific hole I always catch the fish in gets up in the mid 60's.
