Why did metal framed tanks become obsolete?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
For one thing they are too heavy with the slate bottom and probably from a manufacturing standpoint there are less materials used to make the tanks now...I have a metaframes that I've found at flea markets.

Plastic costs less to manufacture and ship. Back then even bathtubs were made of iron, today they are also, more often than not, made of plastics.

Ya cheaper and easier to manufacturer. But man they were like artwork. That tank is awesome, but I bet it is heavy.

Saw one of those round tanks with the stand on my local Craig's list he said it was 90 gallons for $70 I wasn't sure if it was worth that for a round tank so I let it go they guy still posts it every once in a while. Nobody is interested in in so he took the add down I texted him that's how I know but I told him I wasent interested for that price I tried to talk him down to $40 he said no so I let it be. Was that a mistake ?
