Check craigslist in your area for a larger tank. If you can't find anything, PM me. I've got a 20 tall with stand, hood, lights, and I also have a 55 with stand, glass tops, and light. Obviously, the 55 would be better, but the 20 would be way, way cheaper, and would work for now (you could split the fishes up). However, most of the tanks I have came from CL, and I bet if you start looking, you can find one without having to make the drive here. If you don't, let me know.

Okay, thanks for all your help. I will continue to post on Craigslist and such and see if I get any responses. I know I need a much larger tank, I just haven't been able to afford it and have now run into a few issues with this one.
The other thing is, I am moving to Philly at some point in October and I would hate to have to try and move a gigantic tank with me. I was hoping I could wait until I moved before I upgrade but in light of my recent problems, I don't know if I can or not.
I am not even sure if I have the money right at the moment to get the bacteria tonic from Drs. Foster and Smith, so naturally my biggest concern right now is whether or not my ammonia levels will continue to spike in the short term.

They will. It's what the nitrifying cycle does... how it acts. Ammonia spikes, and then is converted into nitrite, which is still harmful, and is then converted to nitrate, which can be harmful in high concentrations, but is generally thought safe if kept below 20 or 30, and is removed by water changes. Unfortunately, this is what you'll be going through with the tank. If you can get a hold of any mature media, it would help you immensely.
I suppose I could check with my lfs and see if they have any, though I pretty much despise them. (lol)
I'm not too crazy about my LFS either, but in a pinch, I go! If you can find someone on CL selling a filter that they still have running, that would be a good thing, too. Then, just take the media and put it in a shallow pan or bucket full of tank water so there's good oxygen exchange and you don't kill the Bb. Then set it all back up and get it running once you get it home.
It seems like I asked the lfs months ago if they had any media that was already cycled that I could put in my tank and from what I remember they looked at me like I was crazy. (lol)
