how come iguanas always look plain green in photos and stuff except when you find a wild one they are green with brown markings and stuff??? just curious

YAh Ive nboticed that the stripes across iguanas in the wild are darker than does in captivity, I suspect to help in camaflage due to them being so tasty.

Some iguanas are just patterned and some aren't I have seen some patterned ones in captivity but yes, generally the patterns fade as they age. Many people believe natural sunlight and naturalistic environments contribute to the retention of pattern and color.

ok cool. cause ive seen l;ots of pet iguanas and they all look rather light colored green. but when i went in florida the one i saw was bright green with brown all over him. <personally i think they look better with more camoflauge

Every Iguana is variable......... They can lighten and darken, and flush out with different colors whenever they want........

They don't really change color but they do change shades like the brown anoles. Juveniles are more known for the dark bands that become even darker when they are stressed. They tend to fade as adults but as I said some retain pattern and it does seem that wild ones do so more often than captives.
