Why do my plants keep dying?

Good Info!

What about Sump Plants? Whats a Good Sump plant? I plan on having Air and Light in the Sump to grow Alge in my Bio stage and for the Plant stage.

That same bamboo works pretty well, but better in a sump thats not under the tank because these plants grow very tall. Anacharis and duck weed + any other ultra fast growing plant works too.

Flouroescent lighting is exceptional when i comes to plant growth. Only surpassed in lumens by metal halide.

If you are using incandescent lighting, then thats you're problem.
I dont know of many plants that can grow under incansescent.

Switch to flouros. you will need atleast a 6500k bulb.

Definately need more info to help diagnose this one. Buying the tube plants is probably not a good idea though. Do you have any place to see the plants growing in a tank, fully submerged, before purchasing? That could very well be the problem. Taking a plant that has been used to a moist condition in a plastic tube and then fully submerging it could be the cause of death. My LFS very strongly suggests staying away from the tube plants for that very reason.

My guess is still incandescent bulbs.

Did the plants seem to get taller and taller till they fell over and died?

This might not happen in water... Might just get to a certain height and croak.

This happens because the temperature of the light (kelvins) is not correct so the plant uses its last days to reach and reach and reach for light but it never comes.

I feel like my plants did a lot of growing when I had incandescent bulbs in my hood...

They did "stretch" but they also developed more plants (I can't remember what the term is) that developed roots that I replanted and they've been growing under my CFLs now.
