why do people get fish they can't keep?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
be angry at the people who do this because you arent going to get bans lifted whilst this is happening!

sorry to quote you ;)
But bans are NEVER going to be lifted.
Bans are easily created but to lift one would cost the government lots of $$$ and of course their ego.
To lift a bans on fish lots of biological research has to go into each fish which has been banned (to see if it is suitable for release, breeding requrements etc), and who is going to pay for all of this bioogical research??? not the government thats for sure... :grinno:
I think its BS! if people cant care for a fish or any living thing, if they bought it from a pet store they should then be able to get off their fat @$$ and sell it/give it back to the store..... :swear:

Sadly in England recently an oxydoras niger was found dying on the banks of a canal.Because of temperatures here tropical species would only be able to survive for about 4-5 months of the year yet people will put a slow death sentence on anything they release.Im not sure any measures will work, there will always be ways round them, and we do have some rehoming places or fish rescue places that would have taken this 3ft gentle giant.I guess there are just too many people willing to take the easy way out.

Why wouldn't a person at least do some classified adds? Don't even have to leave your house to find someone interested...

That is a sad story, I am a big fan of this catfish and I get angry whenever I see it in the LFS. I honestly do think some fish should be banned or there should be a permit law or something.

this is the main reason we dont have as many bans hear in the UK as fish wont live throw the winter

yes i do think the bans should stay in the hotter states in the US they are their for your own good because if non native fish are released into you water ways they could wipe out your native live stock within 10yrs

if a certain type of fish could cause major damage to the native fish hear in the UK yes i would want them banned
