I can’t help be read things where people are asking for help or information as they are new to fish keeping or just asking for real life experiences that people have had because they want to learn and boy some people get right hump and sometime it reads rude. I’ve seen some people talking to people as if they are stupid and should know better.
why are people like this and does anyone else agree or see where I’m coming from

who’s ready for a laugh lol

I find that some people who come on for help/information already have an idea in their head of what they want, or hoping for the answer to be. When that answer they get isn't anywhere near what they expected then occasionally they can take offence as if the person who's dished out the information doesn't have a clue what they are talking about.

Classic examples are when people come on asking if "x" sized fish can live in "y" sized tank for life. These types of discussions can become heated especially if a friend or an article on the web or a video on you tube says that it is OK.

Fortunately these "types" are not regular member type people. They'll come on, ask their question, take offence to the feedback, get all shouty, and then disappear never to be seen again, probably telling everyone who'll listen what a crap forum MFK is, lol.

I see that a lot on other forums too. I always say to my wife, why are you asking if you didn't want the answer. Ie, an op recently defended his stance when I posted that a bala shark, an iridescent shark and some smaller fish couldn't/ shouldn't be in his 55g, lol

Personally I always take everything everyone says with a grain of salt, even the moderators. Granted the moderators will always be the first ppl I trust on here just due to most of them having just as many years of fish keeping under their belt or even more then I do. Yeah ppl might think that 13+ years off fish keeping should make ya an expert but it sadly doesn't. Lol even after keeping fish for that long I still make mistakes every now and then. But yeah just because someone has so many more years of experience, that doesn't mean that they automatically know everything there is to know. This is why we have different moderators helping out with different sections of this site.

Also I have seen it multiple times on here where ppl will just start a flame war on here just over a single moment. Usually I see it go along these lines. Can "A" fish live with "X,Y,Z" fish it's entire life. Generally the answer tends to be no just because most often I see ppl trying to house an extremely aggressive predator in a community tank or in a solo wet pet tank that's already occupied by another aggressive fish. Or even the opposite can occur where they want to add in a small schooling fish into a big predator tank. Only problem is is that allot of ppl get butt hurt over their replies because they aren't receiving the response they were looking for. Lol even seen it a few times on here where the OP would specifically stated that they came from a different site because they didn't get the answer they wanted there, so then they try to post the same question/s here and end up with the same or similar results which makes the OP mad and leave.

Lol just the other day or so someone on here got all mad because he found out his fish wasn't what he thought it was and kept trying to defend it as a pure specie. Least to say a Jag'Horn is not a Jack Dempsey by any stretch of the imagination. But nope eventually he just told everyone to shut up and asked how to delete his account. Least to say if ya don't want to hear the answer, don't ask the question in the first place. Your not always going to get the answer your looking for.

Personally I potty the pets that those ppl keep tho. Yes they may somewhat be trying to help their pets but if they just throw away every bit of advice just because it's not to their liking, I can only imagine what those poor pets are put thru just because the owner cares more about their own ego rather then their pets health and safety.

This is probably the ticking timebomb of all the questions that can be asked. There have been a few rather entertaining threads over the years regarding this subject. There are just so many complex variables that go with this question. Tank size, eventual fish size, number of fish, species mix, male to female ratio, breakages in line of site/hiding places, etc etc. Some people have some very unusual mixes yet have minimal problems. Yet if someone else tried the same mix there could be carnage.

You need to think very carefully about each of those aspects to have a chance of pulling it of. And if the OP who starts such a thread isn't prepared to take the advice on board then yes, as you said, that's when you've got to start feeling sorry for their fish.

Yeah ik I've had some strange mixes in the past. Had a 80g that had fish from almost every continent except australia. Giant gourami, ornate bichir, mbuna, Oscars, Jaguar cichlid, jack dempsey, silver dollars, rapheal cats (spotted and striped), madtoms, channel cats, common pleco, green terror, venustus, peacock cichlids, convicts, pike cichlids, asian redtail cat and probably more fish that I just can't remember. All these were in that tank at one point in time or another and for the most part everyone got along great, except the asian red tail and the pleco. Those 2 fish were really the only problems I had for the longest time. Granted this was several years ago that I had all of these fish still together, they have since been either rehomed, rehoused into a different tank or have passed away for one reason or another. Asian redtail tried to kill the madtoms, 1 mbuna and the channel cat, pleco successfully killed the madtoms and giant gourami. Asian redtail also killed itself by slicing it's stomach open on the top rim of the tank. Convicts and venustus killed themselves off till there was one of each left, they were in separate tanks for each other. Everyone else eventually got rehomed except for a single convict.

Made plenty of mistakes in my day and will probably make many more before I'd ever call myself a true expert.
