Why do so many people like AC110's?

High flow, cost efficient, easy to clean, reliable.

I use them with stock sponge and bio max. Though I do cut the sponge in half lengthwise for easier cleaning and add more bio max type media also.


Edit: save the carbon for when it is actually needed or can be useful.

+1 on the cutting of the sponge. I put bio rings on the bottom and the sponge on the very top. When the sponge starts to get clogged it raises up a little bit, so I replace it with the other half then wash it out.

You never have to buy cartridges like you do with the Bio-wheel filters.

I never buy or replace the cartridges in my emp400. I got the reuseable media cartreges, filled them cut to fit blue mech filtration and chemical filtration if needed. It dose just as good of a job imo, no NH3/4 or NO2 and is built like a rubbermaid tank. However the AC's have replaceable parts and a lil more working space with a higher flow. All in what you are looking for I suppose.
