Why do we get so attached to dogs???

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I think it can be both ways. Dogs and people have evolved the ability to love and care [at least to some extent] as a survival mechanism. It helps form and keep bonds that help survival through safety in numbers and mutual benefit. It doesn't cheapen a person-dog relationship to say it has a scientific explanation that includes love. It's gray area.

I don't believe the so called experts either, I know what those eyes say when i leave the house and when I return. That is no parasite I see in those eyes. He comes for a cuddle and then he goes again with no expectation of food at all, all he wanted was the hug before a nap.
I treat my dog like I would my child with all the hugs, love and protection; if someone hurt him they better emmigrate. I am very attached to my animals.

I love him more because of how well he treated me after my operations. Normally a very hyper and excitable dog but when I came home after being sliced he was gentles as could be and always by my side. A proper little gentleman. He is the same with my gran too because she is more frail than the rest of us.

That explanation (post #17) is much better Liz, more accurate. Shows what the "experts" know :D.
i should have searched a little harder last night for the right one to post... i never take my dogs for granted... i appreciate every day that they share my life..some people call me silly ..because even when i am out enjoying myself... i realize how long they are home waiting for my return... it does matter how long because they matter to me..On my return collie boy will lay across my lap and take his little teeth and push them into my arm.. like i am so mad you were gone soooo long but i love you so much.. as he cries out in relief... and the other one, "the dobie... will race around frantic..happy happy and the little tail wags relentlessly.. it just lasts a few minutes but those few minutes they really express their emotions.. and show me how much i mean to them... YES THEY ARE NEVER FAR FROM MY THOUGHTS...:grinno:
