No they are not horrible invasive species...stupid media and wildlife officals, they hasn't research on snakeheads properly. Giant snakehead is a tropical species, unable to survive in Maryland or any colder climate and no reproducing populations of Giant Snakehead are known in United States.

Northern snakehead is the one that's released into Maryland. Bulleye snakehead, a tropical species thriving in Florida for years. Chevron snakehead, another tropical species has been in Hawaii for 100 years (some sources).

All three species are reproducing in United States.

^ Technically speaking, there shouldn't be a price for one since they aren't meant to be legally sold...

You can buy one in Texas, but it would take lots of time and money,

you need an aquaculture license, a waste waste water management license, an exotic animal permit, and an exotic fish importers permit, but technically it could be done. I researched how to get one legally a couple of years ago, but the time and money involved ,made me back out really quick

fist, you should know that only public aquarium or research center can get those permit! second, you can get frozen SH in most Asian food market!

Snakeheads are super fish. They have been known to walk on land, breathe air, and even eat small pets and sometimes kids. As a matter of fact, they are more like amphibians than fish. Some have been known to even fly for short distances. In Asian villages, snakeheads are more feared than elephants, tigers, or other big creatures. It's not uncommon to hear about snakeheads killing entire small villages. They are at the top of the food chain, on land and water. The media lies because they only tell about half of what they can really do. Grab your guns, lock your doors, and keep an eye out for one of these ferocious, man eating machines. They are so feared in Asia, that the locals have a special name just for them. Asians call them "pets." I'm still trying to figure out what that word actually means in English.
