Why have aquariacentral and monster fish forums?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
What do you mean by joined MFK? There is a seperate sign-in and registration isnt there? What is the reason to join up while they are still seperate? Isnt this just like a web-eing arrangement? Apart from redundancy (but this can be achieved with RAID arrays or mirror servers) whats the advantage since they want to be seperate to retain their communities and flavours? I am just trying to work this out, not trolling. What is the difference between having them as a sub-forum and a complete other forum? Are they all owned by same person/group?

they are all owned by li now. basically the way I see it is that li saved them from disappearing into the abyss.

They were owned by different owners before they joined MFK. They are alot older community than MFK.

we are working on a "Passport" feature... ;)

Modest as he is Li wouldn't like to take credit for that. And I don't know the whole AC story but they had many problems with funding/finding sponsers before M.A.N. so my thoughts are it was a win/win situation. Monsterfishkeepers got a sister site and their site keeps going and getting better.

I agree they should be seperate though. AC even though everyone likes to joke is their own community that has grown over the years. And putting the sites all in one would be one colossal train wreck.

Thanks Kevin. I feel there is no need to take credit for that.. we are a community, a family. but i do wanna say this.. some folks think i acquired AC and APF to build up traffic to MFK to "beat" them. nope.. the owners of AC and APF approach me about their sites.. i never approach them.. so instead letting them slow dying away.. i thought its good idea to keep them up and running... no one want to be "homeless."

Remember AquariaCentral.com is one of the OLDEST and BIGGEST fish community since June 1997 (was called "Tankbusters" before.. expanded it to be Aquaria Central). its members have created or branch off into dozens of fish communities.

Aquatic-Photography.com is the first community dedicated to aquatic photography.

Its does take alot of time to keep these forums running.. i want to give extra thanks to the staff of the MFK, AC, and APF for keeping the community running smoothly... :headbang2:headbang2

Li you are a very generous man! I want to thank you for everything you do for this site and the sister sites. And not asking for any donations you even don't charge the venders for a spot on the boards. Thanks you Li!
