I think he meant air fresheners / hair sprays / perfumes / cleaners / etc (I'm guessing he was directing the aerosol comment at your girl )

edit: You mentioned it used to eat out of your hands...are they well washed/rinsed? Could maybe he leftover soap/etc on your hands thats gotten into the tank, or maybe cologne on your wrist...just a thought. I don't know what would/could cause it.

I kind of figured that's what he was going for, but I put a stop to that the first time my girl sprayed hairspray in the room, and yes I was always very careful to wash and rinse my hands very well before doing any thing in the tank

Do you wash with vinegar to neutralize the soap or just roll the dice and leave soap residue on your hands in small amounts?

I generally use just a little soap, and rinse with water until there're completely rinsed, then i dry my hands off with a towel

That's probably one of the best answer I've gotten, that has never even crossed my mind, but it sounds logical enough, because this really didn't start happening until about a week ago, and the water didn't really turn crystal clear until about a week ago
