.. instead of from the 4 local shops (1 petsmarts, 1 petland, 1 private shop)

Only 1 shop (the private) had Green Terror's in stock, and they wanted 20" for one barely pushing 2". Really disappointing to not have the type of selections i see a lot of you guys have. Wife and I are thinking about moving to Austin, Tx after she finishes her Nurse Practitioners license. Heard good things about there as far as fish go, at least.

I never had to buy fish online. My lfs always has huge selection of cichlids. It's going to be sad when I move a hour away from it. He can pretty much get me whatever I want except for a white saum (I think he just didn't want to get me one)

I understand where your going with this.

I have multiple shops by me within about a 45 min drive (not even counting the Petco/Petsmart stores). They are hit and miss for the more odd ones I like. I recently wanted Paraneetroplus heterospilus, none of the local stores had them or likely ever would. Rapps to the rescue.

This town used to have great fish shops in almost every section back in the nineties but most of them have closed down and the few remaining don't carry the rare oddballs that vendors on here regularly bring in.

Im sorry you dont have selection there :( but where i am i can get ALL these >>> http://www.segrestfarms.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=catalog.catGroups&CategoryID=1 i get them for dirt cheap as well, well the place i normally go, ive been going there for 4 years so that might help though lol, i get most bichirs for 10$ :P but all they ever have is senegalus, endlicheri and very small delhezi so far.

I'm just trying to grasp where you're headed. Are you saying lfs normally aren't good, that you prefer online...?

I was saying that a lot of us don't have much selection, and are quite envious of folks who have a healthy selection, at reasonable prices for that matter. I've seen it, more than once, where some smartass jumps in to a thread there is no point buying fish online when you can get them at any LFS. We aren't all so lucky.

This notion was heavily reinforced today when I took my daughters out today to get the youngest a betta for her 20L and saw the 20$ for 2" GT's. When I balked at the price, the guy says, and this is word for word, "Where else are you going to go?"
